  1. You weren't so happy on your first birthday, were you? LOL.
    Kiersten's pic is hilarious!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LADIES! It's been a privilege to meet you. And thank you for the givvy!

On a side note...I don't have a sweet tooth, but I don't mind dark chocolate on occasion.

    1. I am not a huge chocolate fan, but if I do eat chocolate, I like it to be dark.

  2. Happy, happy birthday, my friend! I hope you're enjoying this birthday a lot more than the first one. :)

My feelings about cake are... kind of nonexistent. LOL I basically have no sweet tooth so I rarely think about cake. But I'd have birthday cake with you! :)

    1. This birthday is sort of intense, because I have to catch up on a week's worth of stuff, but vacations are always good until they end. I wouldn't say I have a sweet tooth, but I adore home made baked goods.

  3. Happy Birthday, Sam! I love the pics of you and your daughter's first birthday. I think your daughter was definitely having a better time than you did.

I will take all the cake unless it is banana - I hate bananas - but I love cake. My favorite cake would have been my grandmother's homemade German Chocolate cake. She was a wonderful cook but an exceptional baker and made the best pies and cakes I will probably ever eat.

    1. She was actually really mad, because her father smeared that all over her face, and she did not like being dirty. My Oma and tante was phenomenal cooks/bakers as well. My cousin, Samatha, has been making the Christmas cookies using my tante Ilse's recipes, and they are almost as good. I am all about the home baked goods.

  4. Happy birthday! Ooh I do love cake...chocolate cake is probably my favourite but anything with fresh or buttercream and tasty frosting is ok by me! I do like red velvet cupcakes...

    1. Buttercream >> whipped if you ask me. That's where my mother and I always throw down.

  5. Happy birthday! I am not a cake fan, although I ate wedding cake last night. I am a cookie monster instead.

    1. I guess I sort of like baked goods, but not mass produced. I can say no to store bought baked goods, but almost never to homemade.

  7. Happy Birthday!! Hope you're having a fantastic time on your cruise!

Cake--I like cake! Though I'm a "boring" person when it comes to cake. I like white or yellow cake with white frosting! Everyone else in my family is more chocolate cake with white frosting, hence my "boring-ness." I do also like cookie cake! There's a cookie place called Great American Cookie Co. that makes A-mazing cookie cake! It's so soft and moist and chewy and the frosting is to die for! Thinking I might go grab a slice of that when I go to the mall tomorrow lol!!

    1. Not boring. I sort of like homemade cake with no frosting the best. I have had the pleasure of a Great American Cookie cake. My daughter loves them.

  8. I'm laughing.. your daughter looks like she's offering you, the baby version of you, a piece of cake to stop the crying 😂😂 anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I hope you're celebrating it best 💖 Here's to more birthdays and fun adventures ✨✨

Not a big fan of cake. The only cake I could enjoy is red velvet (and sometimes cheesecake) but only a slice. Like Tanya, i don't have that much of a sweet tooth too. SADLY.

    1. OMG, yes! It does look like she is trying to feed me cake. Hilarious! I lean more savory than sweet, but I love a home baked cake.

  9. Happy birthday to you both!!! My feelings on cake are kinda mixed. I have to be in a mood to have it or want it. It's not a big thing with me. Now cheesecake or cupcakes then hell yes lol

    1. That is the great debate in our home - whipped vs. buttercream. I am a buttercream fan, but my mother is all about the whipped.

  13. Happy birthday!! I hope you had a wonderful day (and I looooove the throwback pictures!). Cake... so certain kinds of cake I LOVE. Like rum cake. And key lime cake. And cheesecake. And chocolate lava cake. But plain old store bought cake is just okay if I am being honest!

    1. I am actually fussy, and prefer my cake homemade. Though, I can enjoy a good sheet cake, as long as it doesn't have too much colored frosting. I can totally taste the dye.

  20. Happy Birthday!! There was a period of time where I didn't really like cat - I'd get cookie cakes or ice cream cake for my birthday. I don't mind it now, though I can't eat gluten so you know...haha LOL I love ICING though!

  25. Haha, you don’t look like you’re enjoying your birthday in that photo. I hope this year’s birthday was better for you!

My feelings about cake are generally very positive. The only cake I dislike is the stuff with fruit in it. Fruit does not belong in dessert!

  26. Is your daughter eating or wearing the cake?? lol That's a fantastic picture. Yours too! Cranky Sam lol

Happy Birthday! I hope it was a good one!

I like coconut cream cake or marble cake with a lighter fluffy kind of frosting.

    1. I remember her father wanting her to mash her face in the cake and spreading the icing all over. She was quite mad after he did that. And, I'm still cranky after all these years. (are you singing the song yet?) My friend made a pistachio cake with the fluffiest frosting. It was like eating a cloud.
