Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls
is not what I expected. To be honest, after picking up the book to read it, I'm not sure I ever read the blurb beforehand because I had no idea where the story was going. With that being said, I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it was more of a psychological thriller than a contemporary coming-of-age story. The twists and turns of Suicide Notes made it an absolutely unforgettable ride.

As the book begins, June finds out about her ex-best friend Delia's suicide. Despite all the evidence, June just doesn't buy it. As she starts to delve into the truth of Delia's death, her life as she knows it begins to change before her eyes.

Right from the beginning of Suicide Notes, Lynn Weingarten drew me in and absolutely mesmerized me. The story is told switching between current events and memories, and it is written in such a captivating way. The entire time I was reading, I didn't want to put it down; the whole time, I just needed to read more, find out more, figure it all out. Even though the second half of the book was slightly less gripping than the first, I was still utterly compelled to keep reading. I loved finding all the pieces and trying to fit them together, just to find out that I was looking at it all the wrong way.

June is a character who is very much guided by the actions of those around her. She's not an exceptional person by any means - it feels like she barely even thinks for herself most of the time. But at the same time, there's something so interesting and complex about the way she feels things that made me love her.

It's really difficult to talk about this story without major spoilers, so I'm just going to leave you with this: I absolutely adored Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls. From beginning to the very end, it will keep you guessing and unsure of what will happen. To be honest, I'm still not entirely sure what to take away from the very end (I have a few theories), but despite that, I still thoroughly enjoyed this thrilling novel. I highly recommend this to those who enjoy psychological thrillers and unconventional contemporaries!
